These grants are available through the Academic Competitiveness Grants and the National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grants, as announced by the US Secretary of Education.

What are In-kind donations or services?

These are non-cash type of support or assistance given to an individual or organization.  These can include materials, equipment or other services useful to a project or program.

What is a Technical Assistance Grant?

This is another form of non-cash assistance.  It may be in the form of skills development, or some types of services such as consulting, accounting, structuring of organization, seminars and workshops, skills training, and more.

What are Fellowship Grants?

Fellowship grants are given to college graduates or post-graduates to help further their studies and expertise in their chosen field or interest.

What are Individual Grants?

Individual grants are given to individuals usually for the purpose of financial aid for education, arts and research.  Individual grants for education are given especially to those who excel in their fields but do not have the financial resources to further their studies.

Just be honest, from your grant search to the grant writing process up to the time you successfully receive the grant.  From there everything else becomes easy.

What is the difference between a summative evaluation and formative evaluation on grants?

Summative evaluation is done at the start of the project.  Its aim is to assess how the listed activities can meet the objectives of the program.  Formative evaluation, on the other hand, is assessing the project during and after its implementation.

What is an RFP or RFA?

RFP stands for Request for Proposal while RFA means Request for Application.  RFP or RFA is an announcement from a funding agency that they have available funds and applicants are welcome to submit their grant proposals within a specific period.

What is an LOI?

LOI means Letter of Intent.  Some funding agencies require grant seekers to submit an LOI to demonstrate their willingness to apply for a grant project.  Once the LOI is accepted, grant seekers are then invited to submit their grant proposal application.
