What is a technical review?

A technical review is an evaluation process done by the grant making agency looking only on the technical side of the grant proposal and not the program itself.  The technical reviewer will only check if the required guidelines were followed such as the submission of all required documents, format (font size, margin, etc.), and the submission of the proposal before the deadline.

87.

What types programs are not eligible for funding?

These vary per grant making agency.  Some limit their funding to projects or programs within their area of jurisdiction.  Some also do not provide grants to projects that require purchase of land, involuntary resettlement of people, and alteration of any physical cultural property.

88.

Is the size of an organization an issue in the grant making process?

No.  Grant making agencies look at the merit of the overall aspects of the program and not on how small or big an organization is.

89.

Are grant making agencies open to funding newly-established organizations?

Grant making agencies welcome all types of grant seekers.  Whether your organization is newly-established or not, the grant making agency will still evaluate your capacity to implement the programs in your submitted proposal.

90.

How are grant proposals evaluated?

Generally, grant proposals are examined and judged according to the following criteria:

• Clear statements of goals and objectives.
• Well-defined and documented need statements.
• Identification of the support’s beneficiaries and recipients.
• Quality program matching the funding agency’s requirements.
• Clear presentation of the timeframe, how activities are to be    accomplished, and when objectives can be met.
• Qualifications of key personnel and staff.
• Budget for the program is reasonable, specific and adequate.
• The use of appropriate evaluation methods for program activities.
• Other areas as determined by grant making agencies (delivery of goods    and services to the grant recipients – community, organization, individual    or group to whom the support goes).
